Porcelain Zodiac by amegoddess Porcelain Zodiac by amegoddess
For Shirt Woot's derby: Zodiac.

I drew the zodiac animals as small porcelain figurines. So now they are made of china instead of made in China. =D

I tried to keep the order of the animals mostly right.

Hey Diana,

Lindsay was looking over your LJ post this morning. I just happened be in the room at the time and caught a glimpse of your new shirt design illo. I just wanted to jump in and let you know that Lindsay and I really love this piece. It's clever and inventive. The porcelain figurine aesthetic ties in so well with the subject, and infuses the characters with a unique and interesting visual quality. I've never seen anyone utilize a material in an illustration this way. It makes me think of how representational materials can be used in illustrations to clever effect. :)

Two big thumbs up.

Aw, it's cute! Although, despite the cleverness of the "of china", I'm not sure that the casual observer would know that they were porcelain...

Yeah I agree. They need more of a softness to them that I didn't have time to put into effect. Porcelain is hard to get to look right. I might fuss with it more if it doesn't place. =D
